Panthers welcome Supreme Court order on women bartenders
December 6th, 2007 - 3:03 pm ICT by adminNew Delhi, Dec.6 (ANI): The President of the Delhi Pradesh National Panthers Party, Sanjoy Sachdev, today welcomed the Supreme Court’s order to allow women to work as bar tenders.
Describing the Panthers Party as the champion of bar girls, bar tenders and bar dancers, Sachdev demanded that gender bias should go. He also said that his party stood with the Maharashtra Bar Girls Union on the issue, and now with the historic judgment of the Supreme Court, it stands established that the Panthers Party was correct.
Sachdev urged the Maharashtra Government to awake and lift the ban on bar dancers and other females working in the bars immediately.
He also sought an explanation from UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on the issue and urged her to explain her partys stand now.
Sachdev said that the Maharashtra Bar Girls UNion alongwith leaders of the Panthers Party and the Womenist Party of India leader Mrs. Varsha Kale had at that time approached Gandhi, the National Commission for Women and all other forums, but the Congress and the NCP took a hard anti-female stand.
Now, when the Supreme Court has allowed female women bar tenders, these parties as well as the BJP should tell the country about their stand on the issue.
These parties needed to explain their position to the country and publicly apologise for their earlier stand, said Sachdev. (ANI)
