Melbourne, Nov 7 (ANI): Canadian born actress Pamela Andersons Ugg boots are now on demand from men who want to add them to their fashion accessories.

The boots, which are made of sheepskin, have been worn by women for a very long time, and now marketers are trying to convince fashion-conscious men that they should wear them too.

In order to help sell the boots, Ugg Australia enlisted footballers from English Premier League side Chelsea to push the idea forward at the upcoming launch of the company’’s new store at London’’s Covent Garden.

The president of the US-owned firm, Connie Rishwain, has revealed that the men will be the next targets for the brand, with Brad Pitt, Justin Timberlake, David Beckham and Jude Law already wearing them.

I pinch myself every time I see a pair on someone famous, the Daily Telegraph quoted Rishwain as saying at the opening of the company’’s first European store, at London’’s Westfield White City.

It helps that they are such a recognisable item too: it’’s so obviously an Ugg boot in those pictures, she said.

Australian sheepshearers and surfers pioneered the boots before they took off in the United States, but even though most like them, an editor from a men’’s magazine has labelled it as a monstrosity.

They are like glorified slippers. You may as well shuffle down the street in your pyjamas and a pair of incontinence pants, the unnamed critic told the Independent newspaper.

Grazia editor Stefan Lindemann backed the boots for men, but said they had their place.

The classic Ugg boots are fun for the home and the beach but not for the town. They should be worn for surfing but not for London’’s streets, he said. (ANI)
