Pakistan’s ISI luring youth from Punjab to join militancy, says DG Punjab police
December 1st, 2009 - 11:20 pm ICT by ANIChandigarh, Dec 1 (ANI): Pakistan’s spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) is luring youth from Punjab to join militancy, state’s top cop said on Tuesday.
Addressing the media on the sidelines of the annual review of the State police in Chandigarh, Director General of Punjab Police P.S. Gill said that the ISI is still conspiring to revive militancy in the state.
“ISI is utilizing the defunct and old terrorist organizations of Punjab. They are sending arms from across the border, they are sending money from across the border and they are enticing youth to join militancy,” Gill said.
Gill also said that youth are often lured in the promise of facilitating migration to the West.
“They give them false promises of getting migration to foreign countries and they take them to Thailand or Malaysia and then take them to Pakistan from there and they get involved in terrorist activities,” he said. (ANI)
