February 5th, 2010 - 10:52 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Feb 5(ANI): Pakistan High Commissioner to India Shahid Malik on Friday met Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao and said that Pakistan wants Kashmir and other bilateral issues to be included in dialogue with India.
Addressing the media after holding a meeting with Foreign Secretary for nearly any hour, Malik said: “We are not going to shy away on the issue of terrorism. We will discuss it, as we also have issues related to terrorism.”
He also said that Pakistan will raise the Kashmir issue with India on every forum possible, as it is a problem.
Malik further said that Pakistan welcomes India’s proposal to discuss the issues of conflict, and stressed that the dialogue should not be on specific topic, but on a wide gamut of issues
“This is my first meeting with Foreign Secretary after India proposed dialogue. I will give the jist of my discussion to our Foreign Office and they will take the call,” Malik said.
On dates of talks, he said: “We are working to fix mutually acceptable dates.”
Earlier on Thursday, India proposed foreign secretary level talks with Pakistan and said a key issue that could be discussed is counter-terrorism.
According to sources, India would approach the talks with a positive frame of mind to create an atmosphere of peace and stability in the region.
“We won’t pre-judge the outcome of talks,” the sources said. (ANI)
