Islamabad , Aug 12 (ANI): The Supreme Court of Pakistan has reportedly delayed the hearing of the federal governments appeals against the disqualification of Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Shairf, till Wednesday.

The ruling coalition government had filed appeals with the SC against the Lahore High Courts (LHC) verdict of disqualifying Nawaz from contesting by-elections and referring a plea challenging the candidature of Shahbaz to an election tribunal.

A three-member SC bench consisting of Justice Muhammad Moosa Leghari, Justice Syed Zawwar Hussain Jaffery and Justice Sheikh Hakim Ali heard the case on Monday.

Sharifs counsel Muhammad Akram Sheikh requested the court to fix the case after summer vacations of the court, which would be over on September 7, but the court turned down the request, and fixed August 13 as the next date of hearing, reported the Daily Times.

Ahmad Raza Kasuri, the counsel for one of the respondents Syed Khurram Shah, opposed the adjournment plea. It is an important case and the hearing should therefore be continued. Half the country has been lost due to belated decisions, the paper quoted him as saying. (ANI)
