Mohali, Mar 30 (ANI): Pakistan Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani, along with a 45-member delegation, arrived in Mohali to watch the World Cup semi-final clash between India and Pakistan.
He was received at Chandigarh Airport by Minister of state for communications and IT Sachin Pilot and officials of the Ministry of External Affairs, besides other official.
The leaders who are accompanying Gilani to watch the match are PML-Q chief Shujaat Hussain, MQM leader Farooq Sattar and ANP’s Asfandyar Wali.
Other politicians who are the part of the entourage include Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Ahmed Mukhtar, Khursheed Shah, Engineer Shoukatullah, Firdous Ashiq Awan and Hina Rabbani Khar.
According to reports, India-Pakistan match in Mohali had provided a backdrop for the two sides to take a pliant stance and resolve their differences as the match will come a day after the Home Secretary-level talks between the two countries.
India made a dramatic entry to the semi-finals this year, ending Australia’s 12-year run as World Cup champions with a thrilling five-wicket win in the quarterfinals while Pakistan beat the West Indies to reach the semi-finals.
India and Pakistan have faced each other four times in the World Cup. Though each time India has finished on top, none of the matches have been smooth and lived up to the hype of a classic India-Pakistan encounter.
The World Cup final match will be played on April 2 at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai. (ANI)
