Pak party says PPP-led govt a divine punishment for massesSeptember 17th, 2008 - 2:57 pm ICT by ANI
Lahore, Sept 17 (ANI): The PPP-led alliance government in Pakistan had turned out to be a divine punishment for masses, as the slogan chanters of Roti, Kapra Aur Makan have done nothing except bringing poverty and hunger to the nation, said an Islamic party leader in the country.
Jamaat-e-Islami deputy secretary-general Maqsood Ahmad said that the prices of petrol, diesel and gas in Pakistan had gone up despite the fact that the oil prices had dipped over 30 per cent in the international market in recent weeks.
He castigated newly-elected President Asif Ali Zardari for keeping all key powers with himself like erstwhile president Pervez Musharraf. What kind of democracy it was where an individual in the President House was still making all the decisions, bypassing the Parliament like his predecessor military dictator, The News quoted Ahmad as saying while speaking to media persons.
He added that Zardari was keeping both the cabinet and parliament powerless by making all the decisions to protect the American interests.
He also criticized the President for keeping both the PPP chairmanship and Presidency with him, which was against the democratic norms and principles.
On the occasion, JI Information Secretary Ameerul Azeem alleged said America was waging a crusade against the Muslims life and culture. It was massacring innocent Muslims besides attacking the Islamic culture by destroying practices like justice system, hijab and family values, etc. He said it was unfortunate that the Muslim rulers were acting as the enemys agents, added Azeem.
He alleged that the PPP-led government had come to power through a deal with Washington , and that is why it was serving the American interests in a better way than former President Pervez Musharraf. (ANI)
