Islamabad, Aug 10 (ANI): The draft committee of the PPP-led ruling coalition has almost finalised the charge-sheet against President Pervez Musharraf and the parliamentary resolutions asking him to get a vote-of-confidence, said the countrys Information Minister and senior PPP leader Sherry Rehman.

After attending the meeting of the draft committee, Sherry said Musharraf had subverted the constitution and that the whole nation was aware of the charge-sheet against him.

She said it was the prerogative of the parliament to impeach Musharraf, and, therefore, the Supreme Court should not intervene in the process.

To a question, she said she hoped the President would resign before the impeachment motion was tabled in the parliament. But, she kept silent over what would the federal government do if the President resigned before the Impeachment Motion was brought against him.

We have convened a joint parliamentary party meeting of our coalition partners on Monday afternoon to devise a strategy against his impeachment, the Daily Times quoted her as saying.

Sherry said the resolutions would be moved in the provincial assemblies from tomorrow, but refused to share the text of the resolutions and charge-sheet being drafted by the committee.

To a question, she said a large number of opposition members had contacted the ruling coalition. Today, many opposition members have publicly started saying President Musharraf should resign, she said.

PML-Ns spokesman Ahsan Iqbal also said the draft committee had almost finalised the draft resolution, and that there could be some changes in its texts to be presented in provincial assemblies. The committee will hand over the draft resolution to top leaders of the parties for final approval, he said and added that the resolution would mention subversion of the constitution and misconduct by the President.

The charge-sheet may contain more than 100 pages, he said, adding: It will be finalised in next four or five days. (ANI)
