Lahore, Dec.6 (ANI): Suspended Pakistani pace bowler Mohammad Asif broke down in tears on television, while apologizing for his alleged dope charges.
Asif admitted he had shamed himself and let down his supporters and Pakistan cricket.
My behaviour has not been perfect and I have made mistake after mistake. I am sorry for that to the nation, Asif admitted.
Mohammad Asif is also facing a disciplinary action for spending 19 days in police custody in Dubai for possession of a banned substance (opium) in June this year.
I disregarded the green Pakistan blazer, but I promise that if I get the next chance, I will be a totally changed player, he said.
Asif has been in the news for all the wrong reasons for the the past year and half .First it was in South Africa, when teammate Shoaib Akhtar hit him with a bat after an altercation. Although he didnt face any action, Shoaib was sent back home in the middle of T-20 World Cup.
Then, in July this year, during the Indian Premier League (IPL) he tested positive for nandrolone, which was confirmed by a B sample as well. He also tested positive for nandrolone just before the Champions Trophy in India in 2006 also.
However, Asif has appealed against the results of his test, on the basis of the level of the drug which varied in both samples. He is presently suspended from all forms of cricket by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Its piling frustration on me and I anxiously wait to get cleared so that I can resume my cricket,Asif said.(ANI)
