Oz men’s mag holds ‘win a divorce’ competition
April 14th, 2008 - 6:00 pm ICT by adminMelbourne , Apr 14 (ANI): After running a breast augmentation competition, an Australian men’s magazine is all set to spark controversy once again - by giving its readers the chance to win a divorce.
This unique initiative undertaken by Zoo Weekly, will give its readers chance to appear for a win-a-divorce competition, wherein men would explain why they deserve an all-expenses-paid split from their partner.
The winner will not only get a relief from the legal costs of the divorce, but getting a new lady will also be taken care of by the mag itself.
“The idea is we’re going to try to get this guy out back on the scene and try to set him up with some more suitable girlfriends to have a good time. When a marriage fails it’s always sad but what’s even sadder is being stuck under the same roof as someone who’s shagged your best mate or something, News.com.au quoted the Australian magazine’s editor Paul Merrill, as saying.
He added: This is hopefully going to encourage people to see the error of their ways and get out rather than put up with 40 years of misery.”
When asked about if such a competition will encourage people to go for divorce, he said: “You’d have to be pretty nutty to enter a competition to win a divorce if you’re happily married.”
Zoo Weekly had earlier offered a similar competition asking men to send pictures of their girlfriends cleavage in order to win a free boob job for their ladyloves.
However, this drew them widespread criticism from academics and plastic surgeons and the competition was branded unethical, inappropriate and in poor taste. (ANI)
