One held in Anoushka Shanker blackmail case
September 20th, 2009 - 5:01 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Sep 20 (ANI): The Special Cell of Delhi Police on Sunday arrested a Mumbai based person for blackmailing legendary musician Pundit Ravi Shanker’s daughter, Anoushka.
A Mumbai based person, who claimed himself as one of the friends of Anoushka, allegedly accessed her photographs stored in her laptop.
The Delhi police has refused to reveal the identity of the arrested person.
The person allegedly sent a series of e-mails to the 28-year-old Anoushka, demanding for dollars one lakh for not making the photographs public.
The legendry musician Ravi Shankar approached the police last month about the harassment meted out to his daughter.
A case under section 386 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered for extortion by putting fear of death.
Pundit Ravi Shankar lives in the US.
According to Delhi Police sources, Anoushka had given her laptop to a service centre in South Delhi in February.
The investigating team zeroed in on a Mumbai based person after questioning the Apple Service Centre staff in the national capital, police sources added. (ANI)
