March 3rd, 2010 - 7:20 pm ICT by IANSSrinagar, March 3 (IANS) One separatist guerrilla has been killed in the ongoing gunbattle between security forces and militants holed up in a village in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district Wednesday, police said.
According to police, one separatist guerrilla was killed in the gunbattle that started early Wednesday between miltants and security forces in Dadsara village in Pulwama district, 35 km from here.
“The operation against the militants is still on,” a senior police officer said.
Troopers of the Rashtriya Rifles and the local police surrounded a house in the village early Wednesday morning following information about some separatist guerrillas were hiding in it.
When the security forces asked the guerrillas to surrender, they opened indiscriminate gunfire at the surrounding troops, triggering a gunbattle.
The identity of the slain guerrilla has not been established yet and police said they would know it only after the gunbattle ended.
