New Delhi, June 20(ANI): Janata Dal (United) chief Sharad Yadav on Sunday said that the party’s alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was intact and will continue further.
Question marks were raised over BJP-JD (U) relations as the spat between Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his Gujarat counterpart Narendra Modi continued.
Speaking to media, Yadav expressed confidence that there will no break up of the alliance with the BJP.”I am saying our alliance is very old. It was proved in the recently concluded Rajya Sabha elections and it will continue, as it is further,” Yadav said.
Meanwhile, BJP leader and former Union Minister Shahnawaz Hussain said that they were taking stock of situation and would brief media about it soon.
“The BJP central leadership is keeping an eye on the political situation in Bihar. Our party president and other senior leaders are not in the capital. They will be here tomorrow and we will discuss the issue,” Hussain said.
When asked if the BJP will go alone in Bihar if circumstances forces the party, Hussain said: “Now, the discussions are not on the similar line.”
Earlier on Saturday, Kumar sent back five crore rupees donated by Gujarat Government to 2008 Kosi flood victims, expressing his displeasure over news paper advertisement which thanked Modi for helping Bihar.
Kumar had termed this claim “uncivilized”, saying any gesture of help should not be proclaimed publicly and returned the amount to Gujarat as ‘unspent.’ (ANI)
