Mumbai, Nov 3 (ANI): Mumbai Police have given assurances that during US President Barack Obama’s visit to the city, Mumbaikars will not be barred from accessing the roads used by his motorcade.
Rajnish Seth, Joint Commissioner of Police, (Law and Order), said, “There is always a high threat perception to the US president. Hence, a fool-proof security arrangement has to be made. Also, we have to ensure minimum inconvenience to the public.”
“However, on November 6 and 7, restrictions on parking of vehicles and access to areas around Taj and venues visited by the entourage will stay,” he added.
“About 500 car parking cards have been issued, and residents of Henry Road, Walton Road and Garden Road, which are close to Taj, should seek passes from the Colaba police station,” he said.
Joint Commissioner of Police Vivek Phansalkar said, “Some roads will be made one-way for the entourage. When the entourage is about to commence towards the roads, they will not be kept open for the public.”
“Proper diversions will be given to motorists so that they do not face inconvenience. There will be no parking along the roads taken by the entourage,” he added.
P. Ramchandani Marg (street), Ravi Bhushan Marg (Street) and Chhatrapati Shivaji Marg (Street) will be not accessible for the public from November 6. (ANI)
