Washington, May 5 (ANI): US Senator Barack Obama, aspiring for Democrats Presidential candidature, has said that the US will have to address the prevailing situation in Pakistan where Al Qaeda and the Taliban were setting up bases.
He said that after a democratic government assuming power in Islamabad, there was an opportunity with the US to initiate a new relationship with Pakistan.
And were also going to have to address the situation in Pakistan, where we now have, in the federated areas, Al Qaeda and the Taliban setting up bases there, the Daily Times quoted Obama as saying in an interview.
He added: We have an opportunity to initiate a new relationship. Weve got to send a signal to them that we are interested in national security, but we also recognise theyre interested in figuring out how do they feed their people and how do they prosper economically? And instead of just focusing on our issues, weve got to focus on some of theirs, so that we can get better co-operation to hunt down Al Qaeda.
