Now, Met’’s top MUslim woman cop sues for ”racism”
September 11th, 2008 - 3:05 pm ICT by ANI London, Sept.11 (ANI): The London Metropolitan Police has been rocked again by a racism charge.
This time, a senior Muslim woman cop is suing the force for racial discrimination.
Yasmin Rehman, the second most senior Muslim woman in the force, claims she was subjected to racist bullying, the Sun reports.
Rehman is the head of community partnerships and diversity in the Mets Territorial Policing uniformed command, but has been off sick for a year with stress.
Friends say she is planning to file a claim with an employment tribunal within the next few days.
Assistant Commissioner Tarique Ghaffur, who was sent home on gardening leave on Tuesday after running a media campaign against Met Commissioner Sir Ian Blair, is already suing the Met. Another damaging race claim, by Commander Shabir Hussain, has just been successfully defended by the Met.
Rehman, a civilian with the equivalent rank of chief superintendent, is a leading expert on race relations.
She also provided guidance on domestic violence and honour killings. (ANI)
