Bangalore, Apr 28 (ANI): After P. Chidambaram, Naveen Jindal, Lal Krishna Advani and Manmohan Singh, it was the turn of Karnataka Chief Minister B. S. Yeddyurappa to experience the ‘Shoe-Gate’.
Yeddyurappa became the latest target of a ‘footwear missile’ on Tuesday when a slipper was hurled at him while he was addressing an election meeting in Channarayapatna in Hassan District. The place is about 150 kilometers from Bangalore.
The slipper fell far from the dais and the man who threw it was nabbed by police and charged with assault.
According to police, the slipper thrower has been identified as Chandrashekar.
On April 7, an accredited journalist in New Delhi had expressed his protest over CBI giving clean chit to Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in anti-Sikh riots of 1984, by hurling a shoe at Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram.
Congress leader Naveen Jindal also became a victim of a similar incident in Kurukshetra, Haryana, when an agitated school teacher hurled a shoe at him during a rally.
In another such incident, a party member hurled his wooden footwear at Bharatiya Janata Party prime ministerial candidate L. K. Advani during a rally in Madhya Pradesh’s Katni town.
Subsequently Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also became a target of a shoe-throwing incident, when a young engineer in his early twenties threw a shoe at him while he was addressing an election rally in Ahmedabad on April 26. (ANI)
