Hyderabad, Dec 12 (ANI): Twenty ministers of the Andhra Pradesh cabinet hailing from coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions on Saturday decided to resign to pressure the state government against initiating the process to give statehood to the Telangana region.
The decision came despite Chief Minister, K. Rosaiah’s assurance that the government would not move on the Telangana resolution during the ongoing state assembly session.
The ministers took the decision to resign following in the footsteps of 130 MLAs who had resigned earlier in protest against the formation of the new Telangana state.
Representatives of local governments belonging to all three parties - the Congress, the Telugu Desam Party and the Praja Rajyam also quit their respective positions in protest. (ANI)
