Now, a mobile urinal for golfersNovember 13th, 2008 - 2:05 pm ICT by ANI
New York, November 13 (ANI): Golfers may not find any interruptions during the play due to the call of nature, for a New York-born urologist has come up with a mobile urinal that can be fitted into a golf bag. “I wanted people to feel a level of comfort. Worry where the pin is, not where’’s the next bathroom,” the New York Daily News quoted Dr. Floyd Seskin, inventor of the UroClub, as saying.
He revealed that he contemplated undertaking this project when a patient, who had undergone a prostate procedure, came back months later to rave about his improved condition.
“I used to hit my ball directly into the woods so I can urinate. You took five strokes off my game,” he said while revealing what the man told him.
Seskin, a resident of Miami Beach, revealed that that interaction prompted him to find way to help other golf enthusiasts, many of whom are over 50 and suffer from prostate problems.
He later invented a contraption with a wider opening on top, a handle that can hold about half a liter of liquid, and a tight-fitting seal.
Seskin has revealed that the novel device comes with a golf towel that attaches to the belt, and the club to allow a private, hands-free relief.
“You can do it anywhere. It looks like you”re practicing your swing or something,” he said.
He said that the importance of the UroClub lied in the fact that many golf courses fined players for passing water outdoors, and a lot of golfers do not hydrate enough to avoid the urge.
Seskin said that though the UroClub initially received quizzical stares, peoples reaction to it had improved of late.
About 1,000 have been sold in the few months since the product went on the market, he revealed.
“It makes a great gift item for any golfer,” said Seskin, who grew up in Syosset, L.I., and went to medical school in Brooklyn and Albany.
The UroClub is not available in stores, but can be bought through uroclub.com. (ANI)
