No need to hail Losar, the New Year, says Tibetan Youth Congress
February 10th, 2010 - 1:52 pm ICT by ANI ( 1 comment )Dharamsala, Feb 10 (ANI): The Regional Tibetan Youth Congress (RTYC), a global forum of the Tibetan community has urged upon fellow Tibetans around the world not to celebrate Losar, their New Year as a mark of solidarity against Chinese atrocities in their homeland.
This was stated by Sonam, President of RTYC, here on Tuesday.
Sonam mentioned that the year 2009 coincides with the 50th year of arrival in India and living in exile of Tibetans led by their spiritual leader the Dalai Lama after the exodus from their homeland when the Chinese occupied it.
Recalling the suppression of Tibetans rights, the RTYC noted that as a tribute to all those who died for the cause of their homeland, the Losar celebrations this year need not be celebrated.
“More than 200 Tibetans had been arrested and detained. There is no freedom of religion, freedom of press, or any other political freedom and also there is no religious freedom. So, that is why we feel that inside Tibet there are no human rights, gross rights… have been placed. So we are appealing to the Tibetans all around the world, not to celebrate Losar, in order to give tribute to those family members who are going through unspeakable suffering inside Tibet,” said Sonam.
Sonam further highlighted the violation of human rights inside Tibet and thecruel treatment of Tibetans by the Chinese authorities.
China has repeatedly opposed meetings between the Dalai Lama and foreign leaders, especially after violent unrest spread across Tibetan areas in March 2008.
Beijing blamed the Dalai Lama’s “clique” for the turmoil. The charge has been repeatedly rejected by the Dalai Lama.
In recent times, China hosted talks with the envoys of the Dalai Lama but they achieved little. (ANI)

BECAUSE EVERY YEAR THE CHINESE ARE KILLING ONE PART OF THE TIBETAN CULTURE, CREATING EACH TIME A LEGITIMATE PROTEST ON THE PART OF THE TIBETAN POPULATION, WE, THE SUPPORTERS OF THE PEOPLE, HAVE A DUTY TO ENSURE THAT IT IS CELEBRATED EVERYWHERE…. ELSE.
The latest crackdown was on a protest regarding the KILLING OF THE LANGUAGE, therefore THE CULTURE, since a language is strongly representative of the people - a proof is the ugly chinese dialect, loud and angry.
The previous RULE re. Tibet was the DESTRUCTION OF THE LAND BY RAMSACKING THE TIBETAN GOLD, including poisoning of the ground and the waters.
These NEW RULES create a new opportunity to round up LARGE NUMBERS OF PROTESTERS who will eventually VANISH, certainly after MAJOR TORTURE.
So, if you have a chance to learn the language as some of us Westerners do, from our Tibetan Monks, go for it.
THE CHINESE MAY SNUFF THE LIFE OF IT INSIDE THEIR BORDERS BUT THEY CAN’T REACH US in THE LAND OF THE FREE… at least for now!
Let the LANGUAGE AND THE CULTURE LIVE LONG, as well as HH the Dalai Lama.
So, HAPPY LOSAR ON MARCH 5th, and certainly NOT a chinese deal, maybe changed in order NOT TO be sharing a celebration.
