Nityananda Case: Karnataka HC adjourns hearing till June 10
June 8th, 2010 - 11:40 pm ICT by ANIBangalore, June 8 (ANI): The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday adjourned the bail application hearing of self-styled godman Nithyananda Swami, arrested on criminal charges, including rape, till June 10.
High Court Justice C Kumaraswamy adjourned the case on grounds that it had earlier been heard by Justice Subhash B Adi, and since he was on leave, only he would hear Nithyananda’s bail application and pass orders.
Meanwhile, a writ petition filed by Nithyananda’s counsel against freezing of bank accounts of the four trusts of which Nithyananda is a trustee was also adjourned to June 10.
Nithyananda’s judicial custody ends tomorrow.
He is being prosecuted after television channels aired alleged video footage showing him in a compromising position with a Tamil actress. He was arrested in Solan district in Himachal Pradesh on April 21. (ANI)
