New strategy in Kashmir to foil terrorists’ plans: Army
October 12th, 2010 - 11:44 pm ICT by IANSJammu, Oct 12 (IANS) The Indian Army has drawn up a new strategy to counter the increased infiltration bids of terrorists from across the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir and to also defeat their plans to “disturb peace in the hinterland”, army sources said Tuesday.
The strategy was chalked out a meeting of core group of the security forces and intelligence agencies held at Nagrota, the headquarters of 16 Corps Tuesday, the sources told IANS.
The corps commander, Lt. Gen. Rameshwar Roy, chaired the meeting where the reports of heavy concentration of terrorists across the LoC and their plans to sneak into the Indian side were discussed.
According to the army and other security forces’ assessment, there are more than 600 terrorists camping across the LoC. With winter approaching and the closure of mountain passes by snowfall expected any time, the terrorists are under pressure to sneak into Indian Kashmir in the coming few weeks.
The vigil along the LoC would be stepped up and it was also decided that the overground workers of the terrorists too would be kept under watch.
