Kathmandu, Sept 27 (ANI): Nepal’’s legislative session of the Constituent Assembly (CA) has been disrupted for the second consecutive day today.
The session was disrupted as the Nepali Congress (NC) lawmakers were protesting against the government for not clarifying the subjects missed during the budget announcement.
They as well as the Terai-Madhes Democratic Party (TMDP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N) lawmakers demanded Finance Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai to present the documents before the discussion on appropriations bill commences.
Constituent Assembly Chairman Subash Chandra Nemwang adjourned the CA House session until Sunday.
Earlier today, Nemwang has said that the Constituent Assembly area was ”weapons-free” zone, and no Assembly member needed to bring in bodyguards.
“Considering its sensitivity, the government has taken up the responsibility of providing security to Constituent Assembly,” Kantipur quoted Nemwang as saying.
He made the statement at Constituent Assembly meeting today, after Nepali Congress (NC) obstructed Assembly proceedings demanding investigation into reports that some Maoist members were bringing in armed bodyguards here.
He said that Home Minister would soon clarify the situation.
Earlier, Nepali Congress leaders Arjun Prasad Joshi and Shobhakhar Parajuli said that some Maoist cadres were entering parliament with AK-47 weapons registered by the United Nations Mission in Nepal (UNMIN), even after formation of the government under their leadership.
They also called it as rehearsal to impose their dictatorial rule and influence the Constituent Assembly proceedings during the Constitution writing process.
On Monday, police personnel at the third gate of the ICC had tried to stop a Maoist cadre possessing arms from entering parliament but failed. (ANI)
