New Delhi, Dec 14 (ANI): Nepal Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Chhatraman Singh Gurung was presented a guard of honour here today.
General Gurung, who is on a weeklong visit to India, visited the Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate and paid his respects to martyrs by laying a wreath.
Later in the evening, President Pratibha Patil will confer the title of honorary general of the Indian Army to him.
He is also expected to hold a meeting with high-ranking army officials during his stay in India.
The visit was scheduled after India agreed to resume non-lethal military aid to Nepal after almost four years.
India decided to cut off such supplies to Nepal after former King Gyanendra seized power through a military coup in 2005.
The decision to resume supplies was taken after the Nepalese and Indian Consultative Group held a meeting on security issues in Kathmandu.
General Gurung will also work to strengthen mutual ties between both countries. (ANI)
