Neil Diamonds florid shirts never allowed him to be taken seriouslyMay 12th, 2008 - 5:59 pm ICT by admin
Sydney, May 12 (ANI): American singer-guitarist Neil Diamond believes that it was all due to his extravagant shirts that he was out of favour with singer-songwriter contemporaries and critics.
Diamond says that his shirts craved attention of the audiences, and created an image in their minds of what he was.
“It was the shirts. For better or for worse, the shirts created an image in people’s minds of what I was. I just wanted to have some fun with it. It’s rock ‘n’ roll, there’s too much seriousness about it, let’s have a party and be clowns,” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted him as saying.
“So my clothes designer started to make these fantastic shirts and they got more fantastic as time went on. We probably stayed with it too long, we had too much fun with it,” he added. (ANI)
