Mumbai, July 18 (ANI): Visiting US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Saturday, while participating in a special interactive session with students of St. Xavier’s College, said that there was a need to narrow the gap between talent and opportunity in education.”It is truly up to all of us–families, governments, businesses, educational institutions, to do everything we can to narrow the gap between talent and opportunity and to give every child a chance to grow up and fulfil his or her God-given potential,” Clinton said to the students.
Also present during the interactive session was Bollywood actor Aamir Khan of ‘Taare Zameen Par’ fame, a film highlighting the problems of a dyslexic child.
Clinton appreciated Khan for his involvement in the field of education.
“I have to confess it’s great to be with Aamir Khan, a Bollywood icon, but more than that a dedicated, committed advocate for education,” Clinton said.
Aamir during his interaction with the students on this occasion stressed upon bringing change in the present education system.
“But so much of emphasis is given on competition. Did you come first in class? What did you score? How is your maths? How’s your…..? I would like to see the teachers actually telling students– hey your partner is weak in something, are you helping him?” said Khan. (ANI)
