New Delhi, July 27(ANI): Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy, Farooq Abdullah informed the Rajya Sabha on Monday that the National Action Plan for Climate Change (NAPCC) has suggested the setting up of a National Solar Mission.

In a written reply, Abdullah stated the NAPCC has identified solar energy as an area for development, and called for creating a mission for the cause.

Abdullah said his ministry is implementing schemes for expanding the use of solar energy in the country by utilizing various new technology options, like solar concentrators.

The Government is promoting the development of the renewable energy sector, including solar energy, through a mix of fiscal and financial incentives that include capital or interest subsidy, accelerated depreciation, nil or concessional excise and customs duties, Abdullah stated in his reply.
