January 6th, 2010 - 4:44 pm ICT by ANINew Delhi, Jan 6(ANI): The Naga Sadhus are planning to use the upcoming ‘Kumbh Mela’ as a medium to promote a campaign against global warming.
The saints, famous for their lack of clothing, will use the Kumbh Mela, the massive religious event, by coating their bodies in a layer of ash to promote living green.
“Since the Kumbh Mela is the largest spiritual gathering, we have decided to do our bit to save the planet from global warming,” The Daily News quoted Soham Baba, commander-in-chief of the Naga saints, as saying.
“There will be a huge presence of international communities and press during the fair. We’ll utilize the occasion to generate a ’save the planet’ campaign worldwide,” he added.
According to reports, the anti-global warming campaign of the Naga Sadhus will reportedly include signs with statements like ‘Stop Global Warming’, ‘Save the Himalayas’ written in different languages.
The Nagas will also have a photo exhibition in which they will illustrate the effects of climate change. (ANI)
