My son is innocent: Tauqueers motherSeptember 17th, 2008 - 7:57 pm ICT by ANI
New Delhi, Sept 17 (ANI): The mother of Delhi serial blasts suspect Abdul Subhan alias Tauqueer on Wednesday refuted reports of his involvement in the recent terror attacks in the country.
Zubainda Quereshi, mother of Subhan, and his advocate Mubin Solankar, at a press conference organised by the Muslim clerics, spoke up in defence of the blast accused saying that he came from a good family and was brought up with the right values and could not possibly be a terrorist.
His mother lashed out at the media and said, Wherever my son is, he is listening and I hope that he comes forward and offers explanation.
Solankar said that Quereshi was estranged from his parents since 2001 and has been estranged even from his wife since the Mumbai train blasts.
He is gentle, kind and generous and could never do such a deed, adds Solankar.
The accused had lived in Mira Road in a rented flat and is married with three children. The family has not been in touch with him since the Mumbai blasts and doesnt know if he is dead or alive.
His lawyer exhorted Tauqueer to come foward either through media or fax or email and let them know what his role is.
A massive manhunt has been launched in Mumbai for the 32-year-old techie Tauqueer, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the Delhi, Ahmedabad and Bangalore serial blasts.
Indian intelligence agencies have also alerted Interpol to keep a lookout for him.
Joint operation, involving Delhi, Mumbai, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh police, have been launched.
Tauqueer, who had worked in multinational computer firms in Mumbai, is alleged to have left his job and joined SIMI. He is expert of computers and is also believed to have wide knowledge about making of bombs, as per Gujarat police. (ANI)
