Musharraf says he is a constitutional Prez and will continue to be so

Islamabad , May 24 (ANI): Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has said that he was an elected constitutional President and that he would continue to play his role in this constitutional position.

He also said that he didnt believe in politics of confrontation and wanted the PPP-led government to focus on improving the deteriorating economic and law and order situation in the country.

Musharraf reportedly said this at a meeting at the Presidents Camp Office with Senator Waqar Ahmed Khan, his father Senator Gulzar Ahmed Khan and brother Senator Amar Ahmed Khan.

The three Senators pledged their support to Musharraf, reported the Daily Times.

He said Musharraf had urged the government to improve the countrys situation by focusing on its priorities.

I do not believe in politics of confrontation. The government should work to improve the economy and the law and order situation so it can bring about political stability. More efforts are needed in this regard. I will continue to play my constitutional role, Senator Waqar quoted Musharraf as saying at the meeting.

He (Musharraf) is an elected president and is very much part of democracy and parliament, the paper quoted Waqar as saying. (ANI)
