Musharraf for China-Gulf oil and gas pipelines passing through PakistanApril 15th, 2008 - 10:56 am ICT by admin
Beijing, Apr 15 (ANI): Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has said that he was talking with the Chinese leadership to build oil and gas pipelines between China and the Gulf and passing through Pakistan.
Musharraf said he hoped the new oil and gas pipelines would see Pakistan as an “energy and trade corridor” to the Middle East.
Pakistan is very much in favour of a pipeline between the Gulf and China through Pakistan, and I have been speaking with your leadership … about this, the Daily Times quoted Musharraf as saying at Beijing’s Tsinghua University.
He added: Im very sure in the future - Inshallah - it will happen.
Acknowledging the challenges of building a pipeline that would have to cross soaring mountain passes up to 15,000 feet high, Musharraf said: Thought it might not be possible at such heights, but experts say an oil and gas pipeline could be pumped upward up to the border, and that the larger distance in China would be down flowing. So technically it’s very feasible. (ANI)
