Mumbai, Nov 4 (ANI): The people of Mumbai are preparing to welcome U.S. President Barack Obama on November 6.
Students of St. Xavier’s College said they are delighted about his visit to their institution and to other landmarks in the city.
“We are very excited for him, a man like Obama coming to our college. So, we are like very prepared and excited for him,” said Nikhil, a student.
Rajnish Seth, Joint Commissioner of Police, (Law and Order), said, “There is always a high threat perception to the US president. Hence, a fool-proof security arrangement has to be made. Also, we have to ensure minimum inconvenience to the public.”
“However, on November 6 and 7, restrictions on parking of vehicles and access to areas around Taj and venues visited by the entourage will stay,” he added.
Joint Commissioner of Police Vivek Phansalkar said, “Some roads will be made one-way for the entourage. When the entourage is about to commence towards the roads, they will not be kept open for the public.”
P. Ramchandani Marg (street), Ravi Bhushan Marg (Street) and Chhatrapati Shivaji Marg (Street) will be not accessible for the public from November 6.
Obama and U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama will spend two days in the city before flying to New Delhi for further official engagements. (ANI)
