Mumbai attack: India terms Pak action an eyewashJanuary 19th, 2009 - 8:03 pm ICT by ANI
New Delhi, Jan 19 (ANI): India has termed Pakistans assurances that it will deliver on the investigations into the November 2008 terror attack on Mumbai in ten days as an eyewash.
“What they are doing right now is not enough. It looks like an eyewash. I think the civilian power centre in Pakistan is not strong enough to act on its own. We are not confident and happy over the steps taken so far,” Union Minister of State for Defense M M Pallam Raju told reporters during his visit to annual NCC Republic Day parade camp at New Delhi on Monday.
Raju also did not agree that Pakistan is succumbing to international pressure saying that despite of pressure on Pakistan from the US and Britain, its civilian Government hasnt acted effectively.
Expressing concern over the impact of terrorism on both India and Pakistan, he said that Pakistan needs to take effective steps to prove its strong stand on the issue.
He warned that in the absence of concrete assurances, India would have to take actions on its own. He said that as a responsible nation India is maturely trying to mount pressure on Pakistan with the help the several international community.
It was only a misleading perception in Pakistan that India is going to strike at terror camps in Pakistan, Raju said in reply to a question. (ANI)
