Lucknow, Jan.16 (ANI): Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav has demanded the Centre’’s intervention and dismissal of the Bahujan Samaj Party government in Uttar Pradesh while accusing the State Governor T.V. Rajeswar of “inaction” over Mayawati govt’’s extortion drive.
Mulayam Singh has alleged that the Income Tax department had turned a blind eye to Mayawati’’s “loot of money” and demanded that it should hold an inquiry into the collection drive by the BSP for Mayawati’’s birthday.
“I will talk to Prime Minister and seek his intervention in the state to prevent loot of Mayawati, who is only collecting money by all corrupt means. We have submitted a memorandum to the Governor demanding dismissal of her government,” Yadav told mediapersons after observing a Statewide “Thu-Thu” (condemnation) agitation in the State capital on Thursday.
Yadav said that he is at his wits end to understand after all why the State Governor was keeping silent and not doing anything against Mayawati government.
“When I was chief minister he (the Governor) used to write letters (to the Centre) on daily basis. His Secretariat did not feel comfortable the day he (Governor) did not write letter… Why is he mum now?…It seems he is under the influence of Mayawati,”
“We want the IT department to conduct an inquiry. It has closed its eyes and ears on the corrupt means of the Chief minister, whose party is distributing money to party workers asking them to prepare drafts to convert black money with white”, Yadav alleged.
“I know it (IT department) will not do anything…Why is it soft on Mayawati, we could not understand”, he said.
Yadav claimed that over 500 party workers were badly beaten up during today’’s agitation which included the SP leaders Amar Singh, Jaya Bachchan and Manoj Tiwari were detained in Gorakhpur by the police.
He said a number of Members of Parliament (MPs), MLAs and senior party leaders received serious injuries in police baton charge. “We have informed the Home Minister about it and how the State government is functioning.” (ANI)
