Mulayam downplays Amar Singh’s remarks on Firozabad elections

November 30th, 2009 - 6:40 pm ICT by ANI Tell a Friend -

New Delhi, Nov 30 (ANI): Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav today downplayed the remarks of party general secretary Amar Singh, on losing the Firozabad bypoll.

Amar Singh had earlier blamed the Yadav’s family over confidence for the loss.

SP general secretary said the Yadav family made the mistake of thinking that Firozabad was their stronghold and they did not require anybody’s help.

No groundwork was done during the entire election campaign whereas the Congress put in a lot of efforts throughout, he added.

His comments were an expression of his feelings, claimed Yadav.

“What Amar Singh has said, it is expression of his feelings. There is democracy in the party and Samajwadi Party believes in democracy,” Yadav added.

In the Firozabad assembly seat, Dimple Yadav, the daughter in law of SP chief, lost to Congress candidate Raj Babbar. (ANI)
