Moss lipstick portrait fetches PS33,600 at auctionSeptember 28th, 2008 - 2:55 pm ICT by ANI
London, Sept 28 (ANI): A self-portrait by supermodel Kate Moss, drawn in lipstick, has fetched 33,600 pounds at an auction.
The catwalk queen created the portrait, which had been expected to sell for between 30,000 pounds and 40,000 pounds, while she was dating the Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty.
The work is marked with Moss’’s own lip prints and has Doherty’’s blood stains on the canvas, reports Telegraph.
Doherty didnt sign, but inscribed it with the words: “Who needs blood when you”ve got lipstick?”
He originally owned the lipstick self-portrait and sold it to the anonymous seller placing it in Saturday’’s auction.
It comes with a receipt, in the form of a Soho House napkin, signed by him.
Lyon & Turnbull in London auctioned the work. It was not sold during the auction but bought by someone after the event. (ANI)
