Srinagar, May 12 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today appreciated Mongolia’s interest in collaborating with the state in the fields of tourism, education and culture.

“The state offers greater potential in these fields and the government is keen to upgrade tourist facilities, modernize education and agriculture and showcase the rich culture and heritage of Jammu and Kashmir,” Abdullah told a Mongolian delegation.

Led by that country’s envoy to India, Voroshilov Enkhbold, and the Governor of UVS Province of Mongolia, Tsachikher Erdenesuren, the Mongolian team interacted with the chief minister for over 40 minutes.

On the ties between Mongolia and Jammu and Kashmir, Abdullah said they were historical in nature and content, and added that the exchange of expertise and collaboration in various fields between Mongolia and Jammu and Kashmir could prove highly productive.

The Mongolian delegation is here to assess the potential for promoting cooperation in tourism, culture and agriculture.

The visiting dignitaries highlighted the bonds of relations between India and Mongolia, adding that the two countries have had cordial friendship for last 65 years.

They said Mongolia resembles Jammu and Kashmir in many ways like mountains, natural beauty and landscape and the delegation is looking forward for enhancing tourism relations with Jammu and Kashmir.

“We are rich in mineral wealth and are interested to share experience with Jammu and Kashmir in this field,” they said.

The visiting delegation invited Abdullah to Mongolia, saying his visit would open venues for cooperation and collaboration in various fields.

The Mongolian delegation is also visiting Drass and Leh. They will attend polo exhibition match at Drass. A Mongolian Polo team is participating in the polo tournament to be held at Leh in July this year. (ANI)
