Modi govt “hides behind lies”, says RahulDecember 14th, 2007 - 10:38 pm ICT by admin
Vadodra (Gujarat), Dec 14 (ANI): On the last day of campaigning for the second phase of Gujarat Assembly polls, Congress party General Secretary Rahul Gandhi today criticised the Narendra Modi Government, saying that it “hides behind lies.”
“Today Gujarat has a government that hides behind lies. A government that thinks that lies if spoken loudly turns into absolute truth. The state has a government, which thinks that if one speaks angrily then people who are actually looking for truth will go back to their homes,” Rahul said.
Rahul was in Vadodra for the roadshow for the second phase of Gujarat Assembly elections. He addressed three public meetings in three Assembly constituencies.
Rejecting Modi Government’s claim of providing Gujarat with appropriate supply of electricity, good investment and education to all, Rahul said actually the state is far behind many other states in the country.
This is Rahul’s second roadshow in the state with the first held on December 9 in Surat for the first phase of polling.
In Surat, Rahul urged the voters not to get carried away by “lies of the BJP Government in the State” and said that he has come to talk about future and not the past.
Campaigning for the second-phase of elections comes to an end tonight.
The second and final phase of polling on December 16 will cover 95 constituencies in Central and North Gujarat. The counting of votes will take place on December 23.
The term of the State Legislative Assembly expires on December 26.
The BJP won 127 seats, while the Congress party won 51 seats in the 2002 Gujarat Assembly polls. The Janata Dal (United) and independents won two seats each. (ANI)
