Missing cop’s body retrieved from W. Bengal jungle, police suspect Maoist hand

Bankura (West Bengal), Jan 27 (ANI): Security agencies on Wednesday morning recovered the body of a India Reserve Battalion (IRB) personnel from a jungle in West Bengal’s Bankura District.

Bankura Superintendent of Police Vishal Garg said IRB personnel Sanjoy Ghosh was found dead in Bhusakana jungle near the Satnala camp. His body has been brought to the camp.

Maoists had attacked two police camps at Chendapathar and Satnala under Barikul Police station limit on Monday.

Five personnel were injured in the incident and two personnel were kidnapped.

The injured personnel are being treated at various hospitals in Bankura.

Another IRB personnel Ajoy Pande is still missing.

Meanwhile, the security agencies have launched a massive search operation in the region. At many villages in the district they are conducting house-to-house search.

Recently, Maoist leader Mallujula Koteshwar Rao alias Kishenji had rejected Union Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee’s invitation for talks.

Banerjee had announced that she would undertake a padyatra in the Maoists affected areas of Lalgarh, Bankura and West Midnapore Districts. (ANI)
