London, May 6 (ANI): After been coroneted Miss Great Britain, Gemma Garrett is now set to try her luck in the countrys politics.

The 26-year-old model will fight in the by-election for the previously safe Labour seat of Crewe and Nantwich representing the newly formed Beauties for Britain party.

She kicked off her campaign at Westminsters College Green before heading north to the Cheshire constituency. She will be contesting for the post made vacant following the death of long-time MP Gwyneth Dunwoody.

In her campaign she has vowed to help make Westminster as glamorous as its fellow European legislatures, where beautiful women prosper in the higher posts of the government.

She has also promised to work on bringing transparency and accountability to Westminster and focusing on womens issues.

I may not know a lot about politics yet but I do know about people and how everyone would prefer that Britain looks and feels beautiful instead of dwelling on the ugly and negative side of life and politics, The Sun quoted Garrett, as saying.

I want British politicians to be sexy not sleazy and to show that they really care about women.

For British politics it’s all change at Crewe and I am really looking forward to meeting all the voters there and to showing them the power of beauty, she added.

The by-election will take place on May 22. (ANI)
