Miley Cyrus Nevada, Apr 24(ANI): Hindus and Jews want American singer-actress Miley Cyrus to use her upcoming “Gypsy Heart” world tour to spread awareness about the apartheid faced by about 15-million European Gypsies (Roma).

Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed and Rabbi Jonathan B. Freirich, prominent Jewish leader in Nevada and California, said this in a statement issued in Nevada today.

The statement said that since Cyrus had stated that “Gypsy Heart is not just a tour for me, but a mission to spread love”, it was a good opportunity to show her love for Gypsy brothers and sisters who were facing almost total societal exclusion and undeserved maltreatment in Europe.

Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, and Rabbi Freirich stressed that they were hopeful that Cyrus would not stay apathetic and silent spectator when fellow Gypsy brothers/sisters were facing blatant injustice and discrimination in Europe.

Zed and Freirich argued that Cyrus would be very effective in focusing public opinion world over on Gypsy apartheid.

Many Hollywood and other entertainment bigwigs had successfully worked against South Africa’s apartheid in the past. If Cyrus wanted their services in regard to Gypsy cause, they were willing to support her, Zed and Freirich pointed out.

“Alarming condition of Gypsies was a social blight for Europe and the rest of the world as they reportedly regularly faced social exclusion, racism, substandard education, hostility, joblessness, rampant illness, inadequate housing, lower life expectancy, unrest, living on desperate margins, language barriers, stereotypes, mistrust, rights violations, discrimination, marginalization, appalling living conditions, prejudice, human rights abuse, racist slogans on Internet, unusually high unemployment rates, etc.,” the statement said.

Cyrus’ “Gypsy Heart” tour, from April 29 to July 2, takes her to Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Brazil, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Panama, Mexico, Philippines, and Australia.

The live show will feature music from Cyrus’ latest solo album “Can’t Be Tamed,” and much more.

“Gypsy Heart” is her third concert tour, but the first one to reach these territories. (ANI)
