Meet the Queens most loyal fanMarch 30th, 2008 - 3:12 pm ICT by admin
London, March 30 (ANI): If you wish to know what loyalty and allegiance means, meet Julia McCarthy-Fox a British housewife who has travelled at least 500,000 miles and turned out at least 2,000 times to see the Royal Family.
In her 25-year journey as Britain’s most devoted Royal watcher, Julia can be seen in pictures with the Queen around the world.
“Some people think I’m a nut, but I bet they don’t knock those who watch Manchester United everywhere they play, the Mirror quoted Julia, as saying.
“But I can’t bear to think how much I’ve spent on travel and I’ve probably spent most of my life standing behind a crash barrier!” she added.
Julia has travelled to the United States, Germany and Malta, and her face has become so recognizable that the Queen frequently stops to talk to her.
During the Queen and Prince Philip’s 60th wedding anniversary trip to Malta last year, she spotted Julia, smiled and joked: “Fancy seeing you here.”
Julia, who is married to driver Sam, is part of a group of 30 or so devoted royalists who are always in the front row whenever the Royals go on a tour.
“My husband used to go with me years ago, but he’s not keen on standing around waiting at barriers. He’s happy to just see the photos afterwards!” she said.
Now, Julia is planning a book of photographs from her huge collection of 60,000 prints.
Some of her pictures have already been exhibited at Windsor Castle and the Queen has her own personal album of Julia’s snaps. (ANI)
