McCain goes for Obamas jugular in latest adAugust 28th, 2008 - 2:42 pm ICT by ANI
Washington, Aug.28 (ANI): Seeking to destroy Democrat presidential nominee Barack Obamas credibility ahead of the November 4 polls, Republican John McCains campaign has launched a new attack on the formers foreign policy views.
McCains advertisement, entitled Tiny, is designed to undermine the theme of Democratic conventions third night, national security.
It highlights comments Obama made during the Democratic primary season when, defending his foreign policy, he called the comparative threat from Iran to the former Soviet Union tiny, and said the Islamic republic doesnt pose a serious threat.
The new ad cites terrorism and Irans desire to destroy Israel, asking, Those arent serious threats? before declaring that Obama is dangerously unprepared to be president.
According to the NYT, McCains attack line, stating that the Illinois senator is not qualified to be commander-in-chief, is hardly new. But McCain is eager to burn up the money left in his war chest from the primary season. He will be prohibited at the end of the month from spending that cash when he accepts public financing, which will supply him with 84.1 million dollars.
McCain has churned out a number of ads, most of them airing only on cable news programs.
Obamas campaign asserts that McCains latest ad amounts to a massive distortion of the Democrats words and point out that Obama told AIPAC, the pro-Israel lobbying group, in June, There is no greater threat to Israel or to the peace and stability of the region than Iran.
Obama made the tiny country remark in May when he tried to defuse a controversy triggered by his earlier statements that he would be willing to meet unconditionally with the leaders of rogue nations, which the Bush administration largely shuns. (ANI)
