Mayawati blames Centre for rise in terror activitiesDecember 26th, 2007 - 8:28 pm ICT by admin
Ballia, Dec 26 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Wednesday accused the Centre of being complacent with regard to security on the border areas, whichis leading to a rise in terror activities in the country.
“The militants sneak into the country from borders, which lack vigil and alertness. The Centre is solely responsible for spurt in terrorist activities in the country,” Mayawati told an election rally while campaigning for her Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate Vinay Shankar Tiwari for the Ballia Lok Sabha by-polls slated for December 29.
She also blamed the Centre for the fertiliser and power crisis in the state. Mentioning the states demand for a Rs.80,000 crore package, Mayawati said that she had not yet got a positive response from the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Mayawati announced that work on the Ganga Express highway from Ballia to Noida would start next month.
Commenting on reservation in the private sector for members of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Castes, Mayawati accused the BJP and the Congress of conspiring to scrap provisions for the Scheduled castes and other backward classes. She promised to provide reservation facility in private sector too if BSP came to power at the Centre. (ANI)
