Mayawati announces compensation for kin of Rampur attack victims

Lucknow/Rampur/Kanpur, Jan 1 (ANI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati today announced a compensation of one lakh rupees to the next of kin to each of those killed in the terror attack at a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) camp.
“The Rampur incident is an act of cowardliness of the terrorists and we condemn it thoroughly,” Mayawati told reporters in Lucknow.
Union Home Minister of State Sriprakash Jaiswal said that an enquiry into the incident would be initiated.
“We will set up an enquiry into the matter and we will keep fighting such terrorist activities in future,” Jaiswal said.
At least seven CRPF personnel and a civilian were killed in militants’ attack on their camp.
According to the CRPF and police officials, militants armed with AK-47 rifles and grenades attacked the camp at around 2:20 a.m.
According to media reports, Intelligence Bureau (IB) had warned on November 28 against a Fidayeen attack in Uttar Pradesh. (ANI)
