Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh’s wife passes away
April 16th, 2011 - 12:17 am ICT by ANINew Delhi, April 15 (ANI): Marshal of the Indian Air Force Arjan Singh’s wife, Teji, died here on Friday. She was 80.
Teji, who had been keeping unwell for sometime due to age-related illness, will be cremated on Sunday.
Born in Sargodha, Pakistan, on October 22, 1930, Teji had married Arjan Singh on February 15, 1948.
She leaves behind her husband, a daughter and a son.
Today was also Arjan Singh’s 92nd birthday. Singh was born in the Punjab town of Lyallpur, British India, on April 15, 1919.
He is the only officer of the Indian Air Force to be promoted to five-star rank, equal to a Field Marshal, to which he was promoted in 2002.
With the death of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in June 2008, he is presently the only living Indian military officer with a five-star rank. (ANI)
