Ranchi (Jharkhand), May 13 (ANI): Former Jharkhand Chief Minister and chief of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik) Babulal Marandi met Governor MAH Farook along with other members of his party on Thursday to seek dismissal of the state government, on the plea that it had lost majority support in the state assembly.
“Jharkhand Chief Minister Shibu Soren is not an MLA (Member of Legislative Assembly) from any seat. It’s been four and a half months now. There is no possibility of him becoming the MLA. According to the rules of the Election Commission the election process begins 45 days before polling,” said Marandi.
“So, we told the governor that this government has no right to rule for a single day any more. Shibu Soren should have resigned on his own but if he doesn’t then the governor using his discretionary power should dismiss the government,” he added.
Earlier on May 8, Shibu Soren had indicated that he would resign within a couple of days to make way for the formation of a new coalition government in the state.
His statement came after it was agreed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would head the new National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in the state, putting an end to a political stalemate over the formation of a new government.
He and his son Hemant Soren subsequently wrote letters of apology to senior BJP leaders, expressing their preference for remaining aligned with the BJP.
Soren said that according to the new formula, both the BJP and the JMM would head the government on a rotational basis, with the BJP getting the first opportunity to lead the coalition.
The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led Government in Jharkhand was reduced to a minority on April 28 after the BJP withdrew its support, as it was reportedly upset withy Soren for he voted with the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government on the cut motion. (ANI)
