Maoists two-day shutdown affects normal life in Ranchi
August 3rd, 2010 - 9:04 pm ICT by ANIRanchi, Aug.3 (ANI): A two-day shutdown announced by the Maoists in Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Orissa and Chhattisgarh to protest the killing of their leader Sidhu Soren by the security forces has badly affected the general pubic life in Ranchi.
The Bandh has caused a lot of inconvenience to the people with public transport being worst hit. Four trains have been cancelled so far.
Several long distance trains have been diverted. Some long-route buses have been cancelled in view of the shutdown.
“Common passengers suffer the most because a common passenger is going for urgent work like taking a examination or going to attend a funeral and he faces many problems due to Maoist shutdown. Common people suffer the most,” said Shreya Kumari, a train passenger.
“Repeated Maoist shutdowns show failure of the government. The government is unable to stop it. Some legislators and leaders praise Maoists. How is it going to stop?” said Neshar Khan, a resident.
Security forces have been put on high alert to prevent any untoward incident. (ANI)
