Maoists steal solar panels from Chattisgarh villages

- Bastar (Chattisgarh) Oct 10 (ANI): Maoists are stealing the solar panels installed by the state government to help the villagers in the interior villages of Bastar region in Chattisgarh.
The Chattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA) in collaboration with Central Government had installed solar panels in over 250 Maoists affected villages.
According to Chief Engineer of Chhattisgarh State Renewable Energy Development Agency (CREDA), Rajeev Khare, there have been incidents of Maoists stealing away solar panels.
“We have got the information that some of the solar panels installed by us in six to seven villages of Narayanpur have been stolen by Maoists. One of our in charge will visit the area soon and will give a report about it,” Khare said.
Till now Maoists have stolen over 35 solar panels from the relief camps set up for the villagers.
Maoists use solar power to charge their Laptops, mobiles etc.
