Maoists blow up a rival’s poll campaign office in Jharkhand
December 7th, 2009 - 3:21 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )Palamu (Jharkhand), Dec 7 (ANI): Suspected Maoists blew up a rival’s campaigning office in Jharkhand’s Palamu district on Sunday.
“Election office of Jugal Pal, a nominee of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (liberation front) has been attacked. They (attackers) also fired few rounds. We were there but they could not dare to come…Investigation is on,” said B K Chaturvedi, police inspector, Vishrampur.
According to sources, despite tight security, violence continues unabated in the state. Polls for 26 Assembly seats were held on November 25 and 14 Assembly seat went to poll on December 2.
In third phase, elections will be held for seven seats, while 14 and 15 constituencies respectively will go for election in the fourth and the fifth phases.
Counting of votes will be held on December 23. (ANI)
